Deal review
A deal review strategically evaluates your negotiation process, identifying strengths and weaknesses. We provide insights to refine your strategy, reduce risks and optimise future outcomes.
Most organisations review what a negotiation delivered. Far fewer review how it was run, which is where the repeatable losses actually sit.
The result is not the whole story
A deal that closed on acceptable terms can still have been negotiated badly: value conceded before a trade-off was set up, a mandate revisited mid-negotiation, a deadline that belonged to the counterpart rather than to you.
None of that shows up in the signed contract. It shows up in the next negotiation, and the one after that, because nothing was changed in between.
What a review looks at
- How objectives and the walk-away were set, and whether they held under pressure
- Where concessions were made, in what order, and what came back in return
- Internal alignment: whether the mandate was confirmed and respected
- How the counterpart’s position and power were assessed against what was actually true
- The use of time, deadlines and escalation
- What the team did well and should deliberately repeat
How we run it
We work from the record and from the people. That means the documents and the numbers, plus structured interviews with the negotiators and the stakeholders around them, so the review reflects what happened rather than what the summary says happened.
You get a clear picture of strengths and weaknesses, and concrete changes to make before the next negotiation starts. Where a pattern shows up across deals, we say so: that is usually worth more than any single finding.
When to ask for one
After a negotiation that did not land where it should have. Before a negotiation season starts, so the lessons are available while there is still time to act on them. Or periodically, as a way of keeping a commercial team honest about its own process.
We’re only happy, when you’re happy
